Description
The fuel pump drive gear is part of the engine fuel system and is responsible for transferring power from the engine crankshaft to the fuel pump. It is usually a gear mounted on the crankshaft that meshes with a corresponding gear on the fuel pump. It uses an interlocking mechanism to move fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume, and uses a cyclic suction action to transfer the fluid mechanically.
