6G-3378 307.47 mm OD Service Brake Piston
Cat® Service Brake Piston, 307.47 mm OD
Description
The service brake piston is a component in the machine's hydraulic brake system. It is specifically associated with the brake caliper or wheel cylinder of a disc or drum brake system. The service brake piston plays a vital role in applying the force needed to engage the brake pads or brake shoes with the rotor or brake drum to slow or stop the machine.
Attributes
- Made from materials with high strength and wear resistance.
- Withstands the air pressure impregnation allowed after machining, up to 1000 kPa.
- Designed with cooling fins or other heat dissipation features to prevent the brake system from overheating.
- Equipped with seals to prevent oil leakage and maintain hydraulic pressure within the brake system.
Applications
The main function of the service brake piston is to convert hydraulic pressure into mechanical force, which is then used to engage the brake pads or brake shoes with the brake rotor or brake drum, producing the friction needed to slow or stop the machine. They are mainly used on Cat 120K, 12G, 12H, 12K, 130G, 140C, 140G, 140H, 140K, 143H, 160G, 160H, 160K, and 163H motor graders.
