538-8796 Solenoid Valve
Cat® 190 mm Tall Solenoid Valve for Controlling Air Intake and Exhaust
Description
A solenoid valve is an electromechanical device used to control the flow of fluids such as fuel or air within the engine system. It consists of an electromagnetic coil, a plunger, and a valve body. When current is applied to the coil, a magnetic field is generated that attracts the plunger toward the coil. This movement opens or closes the valve in the valve body, thereby allowing or blocking fluid flow.
Features
- Controls the flow of fluids such as fuel, air, or exhaust gas.
- Withstands high temperatures, high pressure, and vibration.
- Allows movement in one direction and prevents backflow.
Applications
Solenoid valves are used in intake manifolds or variable valve timing to optimize intake and exhaust flow, thereby improving engine performance and fuel efficiency.
