Description
The retaining ring, also known as a snap ring, is a metal fastener that fits in a groove on a shaft or in a housing or bore to secure an assembly. The ring acts as a shoulder, holding components in place and preventing them from falling off the shaft or out of the housing bore. Retaining rings are made of spring material and are heat treated to maintain elasticity.
