Description
Prevents external contaminants from entering the system. A single-lip wiper (lip refers to the protruding part or edge of the seal) cleans the rod as it retracts. A double-lip wiper cleans the rod as it retracts and seals in oil to eliminate "weeping" (external leakage). Double-lip wipers are retained with a bearing retainer. These polyurethane wipers are encased in metal for added strength. They are often called "sealed" wipers (metal encased) or "J" wipers (the metal is usually "J"-shaped in cross-section).
