9N-4161 Oil Pump Gear
Cat® oil pump gear with shaft and key.
Description
The oil pump gear with shaft and key is a component of oil pumps used in internal combustion engines. The oil pump circulates oil throughout the engine to lubricate moving parts and prevent damage. This spur gear has straight teeth that mesh together to transmit rotational force. The shaft is a cylindrical rod that supports the gear and allows it to rotate. The key is a small rectangular metal piece that fits into grooves in the shaft and gear to prevent them from rotating independently of each other.
Attributes
- Maintains a constant speed ratio between the drive shaft and the driven shaft
- Includes a key to prevent any wobble that could reduce efficiency or cause premature wear of the gear or shaft
Applications
The oil pump gear is used in engine oil gear pumps to pressurize the oil inside the pump housing and ensure proper lubrication to prevent engine damage.
