8M-5312 0.25 mm Thick Shim
Cat® 0.25 mm Thick Steel Shim
Description
A shim is a fastener used to create space between two components. They are also used to provide positioning assistance between components. The size and shape of steel shims may vary depending on their intended use, but they are usually manufactured to very tight tolerances to ensure precise spacing between components. Shims can be coated or heat treated to enhance their performance. Shims are designed to reduce friction and vibration while maintaining space between parts in an assembly.
Attributes
Resistant to high temperatures without losing strength or integrity.
Ensures precise positioning of components.
Reduces vibration, which can improve machine efficiency and reduce wear.
Applications
The shim is used to increase the distance between the parts it secures. Widely used on Cat® motor graders, engines, generator sets, generators (power supply), lift trucks, pipelayers, bottom dump bodies, trucks, self-propelled wheel scrapers, wheel dozers (for dozers), compactors, wheel loaders, tree harvesters, track-type loaders, track-type tractors, dozers, engine common platform, articulated trucks, road paving equipment, Segri self-guided vehicles and powertrains.
