Description
The bearing lock washer is used to secure the bearing to the shaft or housing. It is typically made of thin, flat metal (such as steel) and is designed to fit the outside diameter of the bearing. The lock washer is installed between the bearing and the retaining nut or bolt to prevent the bearing from rotating or moving on the shaft or housing. When the nut or bolt is tightened, the lock washer is compressed, creating a spring force that helps maintain tension on the bearing.
Attributes
● Carbonitrided and heat treated for excellent hardness.
● Heat treated to Rockwell hardness 0.15-0.4 for high strength.
Applications
The bearing lock washer helps maintain a tight connection between the fastener and the bevel and transfer case surface to which it is secured.
