Description
A compression spring is a mechanical spring designed to withstand compressive forces and store energy. It is a helical spring, meaning it is made of tightly coiled wire of constant diameter and pitch. When the spring is compressed, the coils of the wire move closer together, creating a force that resists the compression and tries to push back to its original length.
Attributes
- Springs meet or exceed current standards and material grades.
- Both ends closed and ground for better seating.
- Has right-hand coils.
Applications
Compression springs are widely used in hydraulic systems as well as steering and braking systems, which require energy to be stored within the spring in the machine and in the shop. Compression springs are available in many types to meet needs, including cylindrical, conical, and double-conical springs.
