Description
The rotor pinion is a small gear that meshes with a larger gear to transmit rotary motion and force in an air starting motor. Its main function is to transmit the power produced by the motor to the drive gear; the drive gear pressurizes air, which in turn drives the pinion, and the rotary motion is transmitted to the engine crankshaft.
Attributes
- Withstands vibration and loads applied during operation
- High strength and wear resistance
Applications
The rotor pinion is used in air starting motors to transmit torque or rotary motion from the rotor to the drive gear to start the engine.
