521-5201 Radiator Core (12.7 Fins per Inch)
Cat® 12.7 Air Fins per Inch Radiator Core for Engines
Description
The radiator core facilitates heat transfer from the engine coolant to the surrounding air, cooling the coolant and keeping the engine at its optimal operating temperature. It consists of a series of small tubes or passages through which the coolant flows, surrounded by a network of thin, flat fins. As coolant enters the radiator core inlet header, it passes through the narrow tubes, and because they are in close contact, heat is transferred from the coolant to the tube walls. The large surface area provided by the fins enhances heat dissipation, facilitating the transfer of heat from the tubes to the surrounding air.
Attributes
- Built to exact specifications for durability and reliability
- Withstands the pressure and vibration associated with engine operation
Applications
The radiator core serves as a heat exchanger that dissipates excess heat generated by the engine during operation.
