Description
The piston ring is a circular metal seal installed in a machined groove on the outside diameter of the piston. It prevents fluid from leaking from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side. The piston ring does this by applying radial pressure to the cylinder wall, forming a tight seal while allowing the piston to move freely within the cylinder.
