512-5260 Hardened Steel Plate Striker
Cat® Striker Plate with Rod
Description
The striker plate is used to latch or secure two components together, with the plate acting as the striker and the rod acting as the striking element. Commonly called a strike plate or catch plate, it is a flat, rigid component with a special shape or angled surface designed to withstand the striking action from the rod. It is securely attached to the surface or structure that needs to be locked or fastened. The rod, also called a latch bolt or latch rod, is a cylindrical or bar-shaped element that protrudes from the locking mechanism or actuator.
Attributes
- Provides strength and wear resistance
- Responsible for transferring precise impact or engagement force to the plate when the locking mechanism is activated
- Ensures that when the linkage moves to the locked position, it makes firm contact with the plate, preventing accidental disengagement
Applications
The striker plate provides durability, secure engagement, and compatibility with the locking mechanism, making it part of equipment that requires reliable locking. It is used on different components such as access doors, hoods, shrouds, counterweights, and housings.
