498-1551 Engine Turbocharger
Cat® Intake and Exhaust Turbocharger
Description
A turbocharger is used in internal combustion engines to increase power and improve efficiency by forcing more air into the engine combustion chambers. It contains a turbine and a compressor connected by a shaft. It is located in the engine's air intake system. It is driven by engine exhaust gas flowing through the turbine housing. As the exhaust gas passes through the turbine wheel, it spins the turbine at high speed. The turbine wheel is connected to the shaft, and the shaft is connected to the compressor wheel.
Features
- Withstands high temperatures and high rotational speeds.
- Prevents oil leaks, ensuring long service life.
Applications
A turbocharger can greatly improve the performance of a smaller engine, improving acceleration and increasing overall power output.
