436-1479 Crankshaft Seal
Cat® Crankshaft Seal (Counterclockwise Rotation)
Description
The crankshaft seal is used to retain engine oil and prevent external contaminants from entering the engine oil system.
Seals for dry applications (air-to-oil interface) typically include a primary sealing lip that prevents engine oil leakage and a dust lip. In wet applications (oil-to-oil interface), the dust lip is replaced with an auxiliary lip that can pump external fluid away from the engine. Some seals have a plastic sleeve to assist with the installation process.
