Description
A shim is a thin strip, usually of tapered or wedge-shaped material. By holding mechanical parts firmly in place, shims achieve a tight fit between machined parts and reduce excessive wear of adjacent parts and fasteners. Shims are usually used with many similar shims or shim strips.
