318-1182 Magnetic Speed Sensor
Cat® magnetic low-output engine speed sensor is a device that monitors engine crankshaft speed and provides data to the engine control system
Description
Cat passive speed sensors do not require any external power supply. The output signal is alternating current, and the waveform function of the actuator is generally sinusoidal in nature. Both voltage and frequency are proportional to the surface speed of the actuator as it passes the sensor pole piece. Nylon is injected through the housing into a mold over the magnet and coil.
Features
- Low output
- Available with a variety of fixed-length noses and depth-adjustable housings (with locknut)
Applications
- High position accuracy; not recommended for applications below 100 rpm
- Low output voltage
- Typical applications include start, timing, TC, TIS, and intermediate transmission speed sensors
