318-1179 Magnetic Speed Sensor

Cat® magnetic speed sensor uses a magnetic field to measure crankshaft speed, enabling real-time engine control and optimization

SKU: 318-1179 Category:

Description

Cat passive speed sensors do not require any external power supply. The output signal is alternating current, and the waveform function of the actuator is generally sinusoidal in nature. Both voltage and frequency are proportional to the surface speed of the actuator as it passes the sensor pole piece. Nylon is injected through the housing into a mold over the magnet and coil.

Features

  • High output
  • Available with a variety of fixed-length noses and depth-adjustable housings (with locknut)

Applications

  • High position accuracy; not recommended for applications below 50 rpm
  • Low output voltage
  • Typical applications include engine camshaft and transmission output
