These alternators come in two types: the brush design uses integral brushes to reduce maintenance, while constant-pressure springs allow the brushes to wear evenly; the other is the brushless design, which has fewer moving parts, tighter air gap tolerances, and excellent sealing for longer service life in harsh environments (dirt, dust, high or low temperatures). Cat® alternators are low in noise, compact, and lightweight, and integrate seamlessly into balanced electrical systems.
