257-6306 Final Drive Wheel
Cat® final drive wheels ensure engine power is transferred to the wheels and converted into rotational motion
Description
The final drive wheel is used to transfer torque from the axle shaft to the machine's wheels. It is the last component in the powertrain unit, allowing the machine to move forward or backward. The final drive wheel does this by using a set of gears or a differential mechanism, depending on the type of axle unit used. It is responsible for distributing power from the transmission to the front wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds.
Attributes
- Withstands heavy loads and can endure extreme working conditions
- Helps absorb and distribute shock forces, reducing the risk of damage or failure
Applications
The final drive wheel converts the rotary motion produced by the engine into linear motion, allowing the vehicle to move and providing the power to overcome various driving conditions.
