Description
A shim creates a precise distance or gap between two objects. The shim is designed to be installed on a fastener. The size and shape of steel shims may vary depending on their intended use, but they are usually manufactured to very tight tolerances to ensure precise spacing between components. Shims can be coated or heat treated to enhance their performance.
