Description
A wastegate turbocharger is a turbocharging system used in internal combustion engines. It consists of a turbocharger unit with an integrated wastegate mechanism. The wastegate is a valve that controls the flow of exhaust gas to the turbocharger turbine, regulating boost pressure and preventing overboost.
Attributes
- Allows precise control of boost pressure.
- Provides adjustability and performance enhancement.
- Designed to withstand the demanding conditions of high-performance applications.
- Built with durable materials and precision engineering to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
Applications
The wastegate mechanism can control turbine spool-up and spool-down, which affects turbocharger response time. Opening the wastegate allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbine, reducing the energy delivered to the turbine and promoting faster spooling. They are mainly used in Cat 3056 engines (piston).
