192-2369 4 3/4″ Bearing Lock Nut
Cat® 4 3/4" steel bearing lock nut used in the final drive, provides secure fastening for bearings and hubs.
Description
A bearing locknut is a fastener used to secure the position of the bearing within the final drive assembly. It does this by applying a clamping force that creates frictional resistance between the nut, the hub and the bearing. This resistance prevents axial movement of the bearing and maintains its alignment. It is made with internal threads that correspond to the external threads of the fastener. When the nut is turned, the threads interlock to form a secure connection. This allows parts to be assembled, providing a strong and reliable joint.
Attributes
- Hardened to a Brinell hardness of 3.6-3.9 mm to withstand high pressure without deformation
- Contains 8 slots on the outer surface so the nut can be secured in place with a locking mechanism
Applications
The bearing locknut is used to provide the clamping force necessary to secure the bearing and maintain its proper alignment, preventing potential damage and loosening caused by vibration or operating forces.
