162-1996 Service Brake Control Valve Spool Valve
Cat® spool valve used in brake control units includes parts such as retaining rings, balls, springs and snap rings
Description
The spool valve is a cylindrical part with carefully designed passages and lands, located inside the valve housing. It controls the flow of hydraulic oil that affects brake pressure. Next to the spool valve is a modulating valve. Movement of the spool valve affects the position of the modulating valve. In the brake control valve, the spool valve, modulating valve and plunger work together to regulate hydraulic pressure and facilitate precise control of the brake unit. This group connects to the hydraulic system and responds to changes in hydraulic pressure. When the spool valve moves, it affects the position of the modulating valve, which in turn adjusts the pressure applied to the plunger.
Attributes
- Determines the amount of hydraulic pressure delivered to the brake mechanism
- Provides controlled braking force applied to the machine wheels
- Allows fine adjustment of brake system responsiveness and effectiveness
Applications
The spool valve is used in brake control units to achieve safe, reliable braking performance by precisely regulating hydraulic pressure according to operator input. When the spool valve moves, it affects the position of the modulating valve, which in turn regulates the pressure applied to the plunger.
Compatible Equipment
- Dozers: D8R, D8N
