153-5556 Valve Stem Cotter Pin

Cat® 6.89 mm Diameter Cylinder Head Valve Stem Cotter Pin

SKU: 153-5556 Category:

Description

A valve stem cotter, also called a valve retainer, is a small metal component used in the valve train system of an internal combustion engine. It is typically made of steel or other durable materials and is used to hold the valve spring and valve stem together, preventing the valve from falling into the combustion chamber during engine operation. It is installed on the valve stem and held in place by the valve stem cotter, which is typically a clip or ring. The cotter works with other components in the valve train (such as the valve spring, rocker arm and camshaft) to ensure proper valve operation.

Features

  • Fits valve stem linkages with an outside diameter of 6.89 mm
  • Hardened to Vickers hardness 500~700 for added strength and wear resistance.
  • Maximum end diameter of 11 mm when a force of 686 N is applied with a rod.

Applications

The valve stem cotter is used to hold and secure the valve stem in the cylinder head.
