Description
Backup rings can prevent seal extrusion in high-pressure applications and can also be used to protect the life of the overall sealing system from pressure spikes. Cat® backup rings are designed in combination with elastomeric seals and mating parts, significantly improving the life and performance of sealing systems in high-pressure applications. Backup ring dimensions always follow strict tolerances to ensure they properly bridge the seal groove and the mating surfaces. Materials are selected for pressure resistance and wear resistance. Backup rings are available in two types: closed rings and split rings. Split rings are easy to assemble. Cat sealing systems prevent leaks and contamination of more expensive parts.
