Description
The crankshaft seal assembly is used to retain engine oil and prevent external contaminants from entering the engine oil system.
Seal assemblies for dry applications (air-to-oil interface) typically include a primary sealing lip that prevents engine oil leakage, a dust lip and a wear sleeve. In wet applications (oil-to-oil interface), the dust lip is replaced with an auxiliary lip that can pump external fluid away from the engine.

The crankshaft seal assembly includes a wear sleeve that protects the crankshaft from wear and provides an optimal contact surface for the lip seal. The wear sleeve also avoids costly crankshaft repair or replacement, making service easier, faster, and more economical.

Applications
The crankshaft seal assembly is used on engine crankshafts and in other high-speed rotating applications, such as some water pumps.
Note: The entire crankshaft seal assembly should be replaced as a whole and should not be serviced individually.
