Description
Cat® fastener parts are designed for specific applications based on size, strength, clamp load and past performance, information other manufacturers do not have. They are carefully selected to last until machine rebuild or end of life. Non-Cat hardware and fasteners may appear to fit your machine, but no one else knows your equipment the way we do.
A set screw (also called a "grub screw" in the UK) can transmit/bear light loads and is commonly used to prevent relative motion between two parts. The cone point is used together with a dowel for line-up. The flat point and the dog point are used for flat surfaces. The dog point is sometimes used as a shear pin. The cup point is used on round surfaces and provides excellent holding power. Refer to ISO 898-5 for more details.
