Description
The intermediate piston ring, also known as the compression ring, is a key component in internal combustion engines. It is located in the middle groove of the piston and is responsible for sealing the combustion chamber, maintaining proper compression in the cylinder, and regulating the flow of oil to the cylinder wall. This ring in the piston nozzle group comes as a set of three, providing a tight seal against the cylinder wall and preventing combustion gas blow-by.
Features
- Minimizes friction between the piston and the cylinder wall.
- Able to withstand the extreme temperatures and pressures generated by the engine.
- Precision machined to fit the piston groove and cylinder bore.
Applications
The intermediate piston ring scrapes excess oil from the cylinder wall during the downstroke and stores it in the groove to lubricate the other rings.
