113-1572 Exhaust Bypass Diaphragm
Cat® Turbocharger Exhaust Bypass Diaphragm
Description
The turbocharger exhaust bypass diaphragm is a key component in turbocharged engines. It plays a vital role in controlling the boost pressure produced by the turbocharger and regulates the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine side of the turbocharger. It helps control boost pressure by adjusting the position of the wastegate, which allows excess exhaust gas to bypass the turbine wheel, thereby limiting turbocharger speed and pressure. Features:
- Designed to withstand the high temperatures and pressures generated by exhaust gas.
- Flexible and resistant to degradation for effective long-term operation.
Applications
The turbocharger exhaust bypass diaphragm is an important component of turbocharged engines and is responsible for controlling boost pressure. It consists of a flexible diaphragm mounted inside a housing and connected to the wastegate actuator. By regulating the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine side of the turbocharger, the diaphragm helps maintain optimal boost levels and prevents overboost.
