Description
Spur gears are the most common type of gear, consisting of a cylinder or disc with teeth that project straight outward. Spur gears also generally look the same from both sides because the teeth are straight from one face to the other.

They are produced with special (in some cases proprietary) heat treatment processes, including case carburizing, nitriding, and induction hardening. Cat gears have the highest power density in the industry (the amount of power a gear can transmit relative to its size) and are designed with reusability in mind. As a result, they are more durable and keep overall machine operating costs low.
