111-8919 64 mm ID Needle Roller Bearing
Cat® 64 mm ID Needle Roller Bearing
Description
The needle bearing is a rolling-contact bearing characterized by cylindrical rollers of very small diameter and relatively long length. These are also called "sleeve" bearings. Needle bearings can be used with an inner race or an outer race. The needles are held in place by a cage or retainer, which also distributes them evenly around the periphery of the shaft.
Attributes
- Low coefficient of friction with little frictional loss in high-speed applications
- Designed for high load capacity, with a large number of long, thin rollers that distribute the load evenly over a large surface area
- Compact and lightweight, making it suitable for space-constrained applications
Applications
Needle bearings are used in situations where heavy loads are carried through oscillating motion, such as piston pin bearings in heavy-duty diesel engines, where the reversing motion keeps the rollers properly aligned.
