Description
A ball valve consists of a spherical disc with a hole through its center. The disc rotates within a spherical chamber to control the flow of fluid through the valve. Ball valves typically have two ports, an inlet and an outlet, with a handle or lever that can be used to rotate the ball and control fluid flow through the valve. When the ball is rotated so the hole in the ball is aligned with the inlet and outlet, fluid can pass through the valve. When the ball is rotated so the hole is perpendicular to the ports, fluid flow is blocked.
