Description
The spring pin (also known as a tension pin or roll pin) is a mechanical fastener used to secure the relative position between two or more parts of a machine. Its body diameter is larger than the hole diameter, and it has a chamfer on one or both ends to make it easy to insert the pin into the hole. The spring action of the pin allows it to compress to the diameter of the hole that accommodates it. The force the pin exerts on the hole wall holds it in the hole, so it is considered a self-retaining fastener.
Attributes
- Enables controlled movement or rotation of components
- Able to withstand forces and vibration, ensuring connected components stay in place during operation
- Provides flexibility in adjustability and repositioning
