8M-6755 Flywheel Starting Ring Gear, 136 Teeth
Cat® Flywheel Starting Ring Gear Used in Engines, 136 Teeth
Description
The flywheel starting ring gear is part of the engine flywheel and is used to engage the starting motor and start the engine. It is typically a gear ring with 136 teeth, mounted on the outer edge of the flywheel and meshing with the pinion of the starting motor. It allows the starting motor to engage the engine and start it turning. When the ignition key is turned, the starting motor engages the flywheel starting ring gear, which in turn rotates the engine crankshaft and begins the combustion process.
Features
- Improved wear resistance because the part is flame hardened.
- Features a butt weld, so it will be a permanent leak-proof joint.
Applications
The flywheel starting ring gear used in the flywheel facilitates transmission from the crankshaft chain to the camshaft.
