Description
A shim is placed between valve sections and is a necessary part to prevent the spool from sticking in the valve body. The thickness of the shim varies depending on the weight and size of the equipment it must support. Shims usually have holes drilled or punched in them to accommodate the bolts, screws, or other fasteners used to secure the equipment. Some shims can also be welded to the equipment to enhance stability and support.
