Description
The piston lock ring is a circular ring with a gap around its circumference. The gap allows the piston ring to extend and sit in a groove machined in the piston pin bore or in the piston itself. The lock ring exerts outward pressure on the groove wall, effectively holding the piston pin in place and allowing the piston to rotate and connect to the connecting rod in an internal combustion engine.
Features
- Prevents the piston pin from coming out of the bore during motor operation.
- Withstands engine mechanical forces and temperature changes.
Applications
The piston lock ring is used to secure the piston pin in the piston. This is critical to proper engine operation, as it allows the piston to rotate the pin and connect the piston to the connecting rod.
